The gym was huge and complete with materials and venues for every type of exercise Aerynne could imagine. Cuscuta jumped from Aerynne's side to behind the trainer, obviously intimidated. "Tangel."
Aerynne did her best to reassure the pokemon with a look, bending backwards a little to show the Tangela her face. "No need to fret, Cuscuta. We'll start small ... but we will one day have conquered each piece of equiment!"
She finished with a wink and gave a thumbs up to her pokemon before diving inside the gym, Cuscuta quick at her heels. The smell of warm leather and aerosols rest in the atmosphere and made Aerynne feel a little dizzy, or maybe it was simply the overbearing fact that she was in a pokemon school gym. She dared not guess and instead stopped her sprint by the balance beams. She ran her fingers along their rubbery hide and grinned, pleased with such an obstacle being present specifically for the purpose of aligning Cuscuta's balance and accuracy.
"Alright, Cuscuta," Aerynne began, "this is called a balance beam and I know pokemon pick up on techniques a lot faster than humans do ... so I'm not sure how often we'll have to train here, or even if it will be just this once, but the concept I hope you come familiar with will be starting up here on one side and pacing across to the other, and once there, that you'll be able to turn around and go again."
As Aerynne spoke she was looking at and gesturing to the balance beam, it wasn't until she looked down that she noticed Cuscuta was not where she had last seen her. The Tangela had zoomed to a weight lifting station and had coiled many of its tentacle vines in the structure that supported the hand weights. Aerynne sighed, she hadn't meant to frighten the little pokemon, but she didn't think she'd be able to talk her way out of this one. She walked slowly towards Cuscuta with her hands behind her back.
"If you do this with me for an hour, I'll take us to the Lunch Hall?"
The main body of the Tangela shook in disagreement, though its arms stayed firm. The trainer was still steadily approaching the pokemon.
"If you do this with me for half an hour, I'll take us to the Hall; it's supposed to be very stress relieving?"
Cuscuta seemed to think about this one for a moment. Aerynne was bent down by the pokemon's side at this point, eyeing her pokemon eagerly. The Tangela shook its head again.
"Aw ... come on?" Aerynne cooed, but this time Cuscuta stuck out her tongue and shook her head violently. The trainer's eyes narrowed as she grunted, "Come here you little-"
Gawking noises could be heard, as well as the protests of a determined Tangela, Aerynne was wrapped in blue vines and tugging at the main body of the pokemon which was now stretched away from the limbs that clung to the weight stand. Cuscuta got the upper hand as she swung one appendage across Aerynne's forehead. The trainer flew backwards, her eyes tearing slightly as she rubbed her reddened head and felt the pain jolt up her spine as her tailbone collided with a piece of flooring that was not covered by a mat. After a few deep breaths, she shook it off, resisting the urge to pout and be frustrated, but the urge was there. When she opened her eyes it was to the surprise of Cuscuta having waddled over to her side, her extended vines still mazed in the weight stand. Aerynne huffed one exasperated laugh and placed her hand gently on the side of Cuscuta's head.
